About Executive Services
By Tom Sheridan, President
Executive Services first opened its doors for business during the summer of 1983 and was originally called
At Your Service. With the Pueblo telephone number 544-1001, their motto was
"1001 ways to serve you." The company was founded by Louise Keach, a Pueblo native,
as a temporary help service. At Your Service provided help for miscellaneous jobs that a client
couldn't or didn't want to do. Such jobs included market research, training, computer programming and even
grocery shopping. Since its inception, the company even offered an in-house secretarial service, and had
micro-computers and memory typewriters.
Later that same year, At Your Service acquired the Pueblo
telephone answering service they were using called Ans-Serv. It was a small service that used
cordboards where all messages had to be handwritten. Ans-Serv had approximately fifty customers
and was staffed around the clock. This acquisition added a new range of secretarial services that included
0.message taking, wake up calls and even special date reminders. Within the first few months of operations,
At Your Service had seven full-time employees, had placed 67 employees in a variety of temporary
jobs and had built up a roster of nearly 100 temporary workers.
By 1986 Louise Keach had grown the telephone answering service
part of the business to over a hundred clients, effectively doubling it in size. With this many clients, she
decided to invest over $70,000 in a computerized "paperless" system manufactured by TasCom.
It was called the Junior System Computer and had the capability of handling between two and three
hundred telephone lines. "Back then this was pretty cutting edge technology as this system had only
been on the market for about six months" said Louise. It offered some major enhancements including the
elimination of the manual switchboard, message documentation and statistical reports. Other advantages were
that calls could be handled more reliably and processed in less time.
In early 1987 Louise then acquired Telephone Secretarial Service
, a 50 year old Pueblo-based telephone answering service that enhanced her pool of clients.
Telephone Secretarial Service was owned by Bill Brummett, a former president of the Association
of Teleservices International (ATSI) the largest industry trade organization representing answering services
around the world. At Your Service already had the computer system and telephone lines in
place which made the acquisition much easier to accomplish.
Over the next several years Ms. Keach had grown At Your Service
to within arms-reach of a million dollars in gross revenues. The company was prospering and it really
became two businesses in one, yet they were treated as separate enterprises. The temp help service had
several large contracts with companies such as Pepsi, Sperry, the Department of Transportation and other
businesses throughout southern Colorado. The answering service was still growing as well. "I thought I
was going to get more overlap between the two businesses" said Louise, "but that really wasn't the
case." In 1990 Western Temporary Services offered to buy out the temporary help business part of the
business and she accepted. "The timing was perfect" Louise added, "because the two
businesses had grown to the point where I couldn't effectively run both of them."
In 1994, Ms. Keach remodeled an office complex in the 500 block of
North Main Street and moved the company to its present location. She also changed the name of the
answering service to Executive Services and began offering small rental offices to clients with secretarial
services and after-hours answering service included in the rental cost. By this time the answering service has
grown to 370 clients from the original fifty she acquired back in 1983. As part of the move to Main Street, a new
Startel computer system upgrade was installed as the TasCom just couldn't keep up with the surging call volume.
With this new Startel system Executive Services could now offer many additional services including
voice mail, alphanumeric paging, alarm monitoring, wake-up services and reservation calls.
Executive Services has been operating at its present location
on Main Street since then and now offers answering services for medical, commercial and professional clients
throughout Colorado. Ms. Keach owned and operated the business until January of 2006 when she retired and
sold it to its present owner Allgood Communications, Inc. Allgood is committed to retaining its Pueblo
presence and retaining a local workforce. "Pueblo is a great town to have a business" says Tom
Sheridan, President of Allgood. " As soon as I met the employees, I knew I wanted to stay put and keep
the jobs in Pueblo" he added.
2007 was another year of transition and change for Executive
Services. We invested pretty heavily in our facilities and in our future. We added a back-up generator powerful
enough to run the entire building until the utility power comes back on line. We also invested in a new Startel
call management system, remodeled the call center, and added a digital call logger. In April, Allgood acquired
Professional Communication Services, an answering service in Longview, Washington and merged the
two offices over the subsequent months. We have agents in two different states who can back each other
up when the weather gets bad. "It's a great synergy because of the similar size towns and the nine hundred
mile distance between the two call centers" says Mr. Sheridan. Operationally, everything runs through Pueblo
but each location handles their own calls. Our clients like the feeling of a local presence and the "high
touch" reliable services we offer.
During the summer of 2007, Executive
Services received the ATSI Award of Excellence for the second year in a row. We also
became the 26th answering service in the United States and Canada to become ATSI Gold Site
Certified. This certification helps ensure 99.99% runtime so that we are able to answer your calls...
with less than 52 minutes of unplanned downtime each year. Executive Services'
commitment has been to provide the highest quality services to our clients. Together, we are able to offer the best
call center and information technology available, as well as innovative applications and quality service.
